Why is Kundalini Yoga called "The Yoga of Awareness?"
“What is kundalini? It is the whole energy of the cosmos in the individual and beyond the individual. It is the energy of consciousness. Without the constant flow of that energy, you could not live. With a large flow, your mind begins to flow and awaken. You stop living in imaginary realities and become very dutiful to the tasks and joys of life. You experience it when the energy of the glandular system combines with the nervous system to create such sensitivity that the brain in its totality receives signals and integrates them. A new clarity accompanies your perception, thought, and intuition. Normally you use a small portion of the brain’s potential. When kundalini awakens, one understands the effect and impact of an action at the beginning of a sequence of action and reaction. He has the choice to take an action or not. In other words, a person becomes totally and wholly aware. That is why it is called ‘the yoga of the awareness.'”
– Yogi Bhajan
“Just as all rivers end up in the ocean, all yoga ends up raising the kundalini.”
– Yogi Bhajan
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is a complete technological system of ancient yogic postures, breathwork, and meditation to quickly induce sustained states of happiness and contentment. It is becoming the largest growing yoga and meditation movement in the world due mostly to the resonance of a fast-pace life demanding fast-paced practices to quickly produce profound results.
What is Kundalini Yoga ?
Kundalini Yoga uses Asana (posture), Mudra (hand positions), Pranayam (breath), and Mantra to strengthen the nervous system, balance the glands, and stimulate the vast energy reserves of the human system.
I remember going to my first yoga class at our neighborhood Gym and coming out feeling sad and depressed. I told my husband "I can't possibly relax and let go if I'm listening to Sad R&B music, and thats exactly what they played at the "Yoga" Class. And the way they picked at me constantly because I wasn't doing a pose correctly was horrifying, I was embarrassed, As if! No wonder a lot of folks are afraid of Yoga and intimidated.
Kundalini Yoga is nothing like what I first experience Yoga to be! Kundalini Yoga is a beautiful way of life. Its something so wonderful that can transform your life.
“The primary objective [of Kundalini Yoga] is to awaken the full potential of human awareness in each individual; that is, recognize our awareness, refine that awareness, and expand that awareness to our unlimited Self. Clear any inner duality, create the power to deeply listen, cultivate inner stillness, and prosper and deliver excellence in all that we do.” -Kundalini Research Institute

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is a fast and powerful tool to change your life. Yoga has been around for thousands of years, but for most of that time it was kept a secret in the mountains of India. The yogis weren’t just trying to protect a form of exercise; they were protecting a powerful tool for self-mastery.
Kundalini is an energy the yogis tried to keep secret. It is a natural energy that exists in all of us. The way Yogi Bhajan taught us to practice is a quick science to unlock the energy within, so that we can experience our full potential!
Yogi Bhajan said it best: “Yoga is the science of self, and Kundalini is the awakening of self, it is that simple.”
What is your full potential? It is hard to know when we live in a world that is moving so fast. We have stress, anxiety, pain, sleeplessness, depression and so many challenges that it is hard to truly know ourselves sometimes. Kundalini helps us break through the barriers and get out of our own way. It is a yoga for people who are ready to take radical responsibility for their lives. It clears the fog in our minds and allows us to experience our own light, and in turn see the light of others.
“Teacher Training is one of the greatest gifts you will ever give yourself. This ancient science and teachings saved my life by teaching me how to consciously reclaim my life. Yogi Bhajan called Kundalini Yoga the Yoga of Awareness. I call it the Yoga of The Lost and Found. We all lose ourselves. This teacher training will help you find yourself.” -Dr. Azita Nahai
If you are looking for a life-changing gift to give yourself, this training is it. You will awaken a deep wisdom from within. That wisdom will become your guide in life.
I leave you with this… If you are looking for a shift in your life and want something that only relies on YOU, then Kundalini Yoga is the answer.
And one last thing, we have a lot of FUN in the process of learning and growing. I like to think of Kundalini yogis as the rock stars of Yoga. :)
